Meet the 14-inch MacBook Pro with M6

Apple’s M6 announcement concerns the 14-inch MacBook Pro. It combines the new base M6 chip with the Liquid Retina XDR display family. If your first question is whether this is the new touchscreen MacBook, the answer is no: those models carry the separate PROLED XDR name.

That distinction matters when comparing quotations in Kenya. A listing that says only “MacBook Pro 2026” leaves too much unanswered. Ask for the size, chip, display family and RAM/SSD configuration before comparing the price.

Apple announced M6 on 27 October 2026, with availability beginning 6 November in selected markets. Local stock and fulfilment need their own confirmation. The live product box below is the current NextBuy reference.

A launch date overseas does not establish a Kenya delivery date. If the option you want is unavailable, use the listing’s notification or enquiry route and confirm the expected supply before planning around it.

The specifications that matter

AreaApple’s specification
ChipM6, with 12-core CPU and 12-core GPU
Display familyLiquid Retina XDR, mini-LED; not touchscreen
ThunderboltThree Thunderbolt 4 ports
Other connectionsHDMI, SDXC card slot, MagSafe 3 and headphone jack
External displaysUp to two; check supported resolutions for your setup
ColoursSilver and Space Black

The useful reading of this table is practical. If you already use an external display, a camera card and a storage drive, check the connections as a group. Do not assume that every dock or USB-C cable will meet the display, charging and transfer requirements of that setup.

Who should put M6 on their shortlist?

Business and study

Consider the machine as a complete daily setup: your applications, meetings, documents, commuting and screen requirements. Check any specialist Windows-only tools with your organisation before switching platforms.

Coding and creative work

Start with your project sizes and the applications you use together. Look for relevant independent tests before assuming one chip name answers every build, editing or graphics question.

The better question is not whether M6 is new. It is where your current laptop holds you back. If everyday work is already comfortable, waiting for relevant testing may be sensible. If a specific task is slowing you down, compare machines against that task.

For travel and work away from a desk, battery claims are useful context rather than a timetable. Apple advertises up to 24 hours for the range’s tested M6 configuration; actual runtime depends on use, settings and conditions. Do not plan a full production day around the maximum video-playback figure.

RAM, SSD, finish: choose them separately

Colour is another separate choice. Silver and Space Black identify the finish of the laptop enclosure. They do not establish the memory, storage or glass option. Confirm all of those details in the selected configuration.

Look for an exact label such as 16GB RAM + 1TB SSD, then verify the chip and display finish alongside it. These describe different parts of the offer. A colour change is not a memory upgrade, and Nano-texture is not a different processor.

  • RAM: consider the applications you keep open together and the size of your normal projects. Use your software’s requirements and relevant workload tests rather than choosing purely by a generic recommendation.
  • SSD: count your working files, applications and expected growth. Include external storage and a separate backup in the budget if your workflow needs them.
  • Display finish: compare the standard finish with Nano-texture against the lighting where you work. This is a screen-surface choice.

Apple’s customiser can show more possibilities than a retailer’s standard stock. NextBuy’s configuration list is the place to check the actual offers. An unavailable option can have a reference price while still being out of stock.

Buy the bundle you need. Do not assume that every RAM/SSD combination is a standard retail configuration, or that a photo establishes the selected glass finish.

M6 or M5 Pro/Max?

Generation and tier are different ideas. The “6” in M6 does not by itself settle a comparison against M5 Pro or M5 Max. The resources available to the workload, memory configuration and software all matter.

If the touchscreen and OLED display are central to your decision, explore our PROLED XDR touchscreen guide. If you want the broader side-by-side buying decision, use the M6 vs PROLED XDR comparison.

Keep the total setup cost in view. A buyer needing a dock, external storage, software and a monitor may make a different choice from someone who already owns those pieces. Compare the complete solution, not only the laptop’s headline price.

Before you order in Kenya

  1. Record the complete model name and exact RAM/SSD bundle.
  2. Check the selected colour, display finish and keyboard layout.
  3. Read the live price and stock for that configuration.
  4. Confirm the supplied charger and package contents.
  5. Check the written warranty terms, returns policy and delivery information.
Is there a 16-inch model with the base M6?

The announcement used for this guide covers the 14-inch model. Do not confuse Apple’s broader 14/16-inch MacBook Pro family with a confirmed 16-inch base-M6 configuration.
