TV Inches vs Cabinet Width in Kenya: Measure Before Delivery
A 75-inch label does not mean a television is 75 inches wide. Check the full set, its stand and the route into your room before choosing the screen size.

The screen diagonal is not the cabinet width
Television screen sizes are measured diagonally. The full television also has its frame, while the stand adds another set of dimensions. Sony’s K-75S30 specification page, for example, lists screen diagonal, complete width, stand width and carton dimensions separately.
For a Kenyan buyer choosing a TV for an existing cabinet, start with a tape measure and the exact model number. An online furniture description saying “suits 75-inch TVs” is a prompt to check the details, not proof that every television in that class has the same feet, width or depth.
Do not measure only the gap across the old screen. Record the available furniture surface, any surrounding shelves and the space behind the set for its connections and ventilation. Then compare those measurements with the manufacturer’s instructions for the new television.
Measure width and depth at the supporting surface
The television’s full width tells you how much horizontal space the set occupies. Stand span tells you where its support points sit. Stand depth matters just as much: a wide cabinet can still be too shallow for the supplied feet.
Measure the surface that will actually support the stand, including any raised lip, rear recess or uneven section. Keep the whole stand properly supported; do not solve a mismatch by letting its feet overhang. Also confirm the furniture’s stated load capacity against the exact television and stand, rather than deciding from appearance alone.
If you plan a soundbar below the screen, include its height and the space for controls or remote reception. The audio connection is a separate check: our HDMI eARC guide explains the TV-to-soundbar connection without assuming a particular cabinet arrangement.
One 75-inch example shows why the measurements differ
Sony’s regional K-75S30 reference lists the following approximate dimensions. They apply to this exact model and standard stand position, not every 75-inch TV or every BRAVIA 3 size.
| Measurement | Regional reference | Use it to check |
|---|---|---|
| Complete TV width | 167.5cm | The horizontal space occupied by the set. |
| Stand span | 132.9cm | The support arrangement on the furniture. |
| Depth with stand | 41cm | The required supporting depth. |
| Height with stand | 104.2cm | Clearance below any shelf or enclosure. |
| Carton, width × height × depth | 181.2 × 111.8 × 18.9cm | The packaged delivery route. |

Check the boxed route before arranging delivery
Measure door openings, narrow corridors, stair turns and lift access along the intended route. A television that fits the wall may arrive in a larger protective carton. Describe awkward access to the delivery team in advance, rather than assuming that a straight doorway measurement settles every turn.
For an apartment or upstairs room, share the relevant measurements and access details when arranging the order. Ask how the packaged item will be handled and whether the planned service includes placement or installation. Delivery charges, timing and service scope should follow the confirmed order and NextBuy’s delivery policy; this guide does not promise a particular handling service.
A wall bracket needs more than the screen’s inch size
For wall mounting, check the exact model’s mounting pattern, weight and manufacturer instructions with the installer. The stand footprint is no longer the furniture question, but cable clearance, ventilation and the suitability of the mounting arrangement still matter.
Do not use this illustration as a drilling template or infer a bracket choice from “75-inch” alone. Use the exact television’s documentation and an appropriate installation service. Recheck the room layout from the intended seating position before committing to the mounting location.
Keep a short measurement sheet with the order
Record the full model number, screen-size option, furniture width and depth, surrounding clearances and any difficult delivery access. Keep those notes with the exact offer you intend to order. This makes a pre-purchase conversation more useful than asking whether a large TV will “fit a normal stand.”
Does 75-inch describe the television’s full width?
No. It is a screen-size class based on the diagonal. Use the exact model’s complete dimensions for room and furniture planning.
Is stand width enough to confirm the cabinet fits?
No. Check stand depth, complete support, furniture load capacity and the manufacturer’s installation requirements too.
Can I use these dimensions for another BRAVIA 3 size?
No. The example refers to K-75S30. Check the exact size and regional model you plan to buy.
