DJI Mini 5 Pro Drone Overview
The DJI Mini 5 Pro price in Kenya is Price range: KShs 132,500 through KShs 167,500. Choose this compact folding camera drone for travel footage, property videos and outdoor storytelling when you want a 1-inch sensor without moving to a much larger aircraft. Its 50MP camera, true vertical shooting and flexible gimbal offer more creative control than simply cropping a wide video for social media. Compare the DJI Mini 4 Pro if your priority is a smaller budget, or the DJI Air 3S if a separate telephoto camera matters more than minimum carrying size.
Choose the package, not just the aircraft
All three listed packages specify DJI RC 2, the controller with its own screen. You do not need to mount a phone to view the flight feed, although account setup, updates and online services still require appropriate connectivity.
- Standard Kit (RC 2): the aircraft, screen controller and one standard Intelligent Flight Battery form the core setup. Choose this for shorter sessions or when you intend to add accessories individually.
- Fly More Combo (RC 2): includes three standard Intelligent Flight Batteries in total, a Two-Way Charging Hub, shoulder bag, ND8/32/128 filter set and additional spare propellers. It is the practical option for several flights at one location.
- Fly More Combo Plus (RC 2): uses three Intelligent Flight Battery Plus packs rather than the standard batteries, with the hub, bag, filters and spares. Longer rated flight time comes with greater aircraft weight.
Three batteries mean separate flights with battery changes, not one uninterrupted flight lasting three times the single-battery rating. The selected package determines its live price and availability.
A larger sensor and footage you can edit
The 1-inch CMOS camera has 50MP effective pixels, a 24mm-equivalent lens and an f/1.8 aperture. It supports JPEG and DNG RAW stills, 4K up to 60fps for regular footage and 4K/120fps slow-motion recording. A larger sensor can help preserve detail and tonal transitions, but exposure, lighting and movement still matter. The 48mm Med-Tele framing mode is not a second optical telephoto camera.
10-bit D-Log M and HLG provide options for a colour-managed editing workflow. Normal colour is more straightforward when you want a quick turnaround. Check that your editing device supports H.265: DJI specifies it for 4K and slow-motion recordings. Shooting at the highest frame rate is a creative choice, not automatically the best setting for every scene.
Vertical shooting and flexible camera movement
The three-axis mechanical gimbal supports true vertical shooting and a 225-degree controllable roll range. This helps when you need portrait footage for social platforms and landscape clips from the same outing. Use deliberate camera movements to reveal a building, follow a route or frame a landscape; the gimbal adds creative angles without requiring every shot to be reframed later.
ActiveTrack 360° can help keep a moving subject framed. Omnidirectional vision sensing, forward-facing LiDAR and a downward infrared sensor assist flight, but thin branches, reflective surfaces, light levels and other surroundings can limit detection. Tracking and return-to-home features still require an attentive pilot and a suitable operating area.
36 minutes versus 52 minutes: understand the battery figures
DJI rates the standard battery at up to 36 minutes and the Plus battery at up to 52 minutes in controlled maximum-endurance tests. DJI separately publishes typical test figures of approximately 21 and 33 minutes under its defined recording and return-to-home scenario. Neither is a guaranteed duration for every flight. Wind, manoeuvres, recording, temperature and your landing reserve change usable time.
The quoted standard takeoff weight is approximately 249.9g, with manufacturing variation. The heavier Plus battery increases weight beyond that configuration. Do not assume every Mini 5 Pro package stays below a weight threshold, or that a small drone is exempt from local requirements. Keep a sensible battery reserve for the return and landing.
Storage, charging and what to add
The aircraft has 42GB of internal storage and supports recommended microSD cards. Internal storage is useful if a card is forgotten, but a suitable fast card and a regular backup routine make longer recording sessions easier. A memory card is not a standard included item.
The Fly More packages include the aircraft, DJI RC 2, three batteries of the stated type, charging hub, storage cover, three spare propeller pairs, shoulder bag, ND filter set and USB-C to USB-C cable. The hub is not a mains power adapter. Add a suitable USB-C charger; DJI’s published charging tests use its 65W Portable Charger. Keep standard-kit accessories distinct from Fly More extras rather than assuming every listing includes the same bag or filters.
Who should choose Mini 5 Pro?
Choose it when portability, a 1-inch camera and vertical content are central to your work. Choose an Air or Mavic model when separate longer-focal-length cameras better fit your shooting needs. Mini 5 Pro is not waterproof, and transmission-range figures describe radio tests rather than a practical out-and-back flight plan. Before an outing, check weather, permissions, the aircraft and controller charge, storage and return-to-home settings.
See DJI’s official Mini 5 Pro specifications for test conditions and supported recording modes, and the official Plus bundle contents for the battery and accessory distinction.

- True vertical recording and flexible gimbal roll
- RAW stills and 10-bit video options
- DJI RC 2 screen controller in the listed packages
- Fly More kits add batteries, filters, hub and bag

Cons
- Plus batteries increase takeoff weight
- Maximum flight-time figures exceed many real shooting sessions
- Not waterproof; obstacle sensing has environmental limitations
What is the difference between Standard, Fly More and Fly More Plus?
Standard is the one-standard-battery setup with DJI RC 2. Fly More includes three standard batteries in total plus hub, bag, ND filters and extra spares. Fly More Plus uses three higher-capacity Plus batteries, which increase aircraft weight.
Do I need a phone as the controller screen?
No. All packages listed here specify DJI RC 2 with a built-in display. Connectivity is still needed for account setup, updates and online functions.
Will it really fly for 36 or 52 minutes?
Those are DJI’s controlled maximum-flight-time figures for standard and Plus batteries. DJI also publishes typical test figures of about 21 and 33 minutes under a defined recording scenario. Conditions, settings and landing reserve affect actual usable time.
Is every Mini 5 Pro configuration under 250g?
No. DJI quotes approximately 249.9g for the standard configuration, with manufacturing variation. The Plus battery adds weight. Check the actual configuration and applicable local requirements rather than relying on the Mini name.
Does the charging hub include a wall charger?
No. The hub supplied in Fly More packages is separate from the USB-C mains adapter. Use a suitable charger; DJI’s quoted charging tests use its 65W Portable Charger.
Does it need a memory card?
It has 42GB internal storage and supports recommended microSD cards. A fast compatible card is useful for longer sessions and is not a standard included item.
Is the 48mm Med-Tele mode an optical zoom camera?
No. Mini 5 Pro has one camera. The 48mm framing option is not a separate optical telephoto lens; compare Air 3S if you need a dedicated medium-tele camera.
Can it fly in rain or avoid every obstacle automatically?
It is not waterproof. Vision sensors and LiDAR assist flight but have limits related to light, surfaces and the surroundings. The pilot must monitor the aircraft and maintain suitable clearance.
