DJI Air 3S Drone Overview
The DJI Air 3S price in Kenya is Price range: KShs 198,500 through KShs 222,500. Air 3S suits travel filmmakers, property photographers and creators who want both a wide scene and a tighter subject view from one aircraft. Compared with the smaller DJI Mini 5 Pro Drone, its key attraction is a separate 70mm-equivalent tele camera, rather than a crop from the wide lens.
One-inch wide camera and a separate 3x viewpoint
The 50MP wide camera uses a 1-inch sensor, 24mm-equivalent lens and f/1.8 aperture. It is the natural choice for landscapes, building exteriors and establishing shots. Switch to the 48MP medium tele camera for a 70mm-equivalent f/2.8 view that isolates a subject and makes the background appear closer. Its 1/1.3-inch sensor gives the tighter view its own imaging system; zoom beyond the camera’s native view is digital.
Both cameras record up to 4K/60fps HDR and offer 4K/120fps slow motion. DNG RAW photographs allow more flexible editing than JPEG alone, while 10-bit D-Log M and HLG offer colour-workflow choices. Normal colour is easier when you want a quicker delivery. The apertures are fixed, so the included ND filters are useful when bright light would otherwise force a very fast shutter speed for video.
Vertical video, tracking and storage
Air 3S records vertical video up to 2.7K/60fps, using a crop rather than rotating the camera into a full-sensor portrait orientation. It is useful for social platforms, but do not buy it expecting native 4K portrait capture. The three-axis mechanical gimbal stabilises footage, while ActiveTrack 360° helps keep a suitable subject framed as it moves. Choose an open route and monitor the flight; tracking does not remove the pilot’s responsibility to avoid hazards.
The 42GB of built-in storage is a practical buffer if you forget a card or need to finish a short shoot. For extended 4K recording, add a compatible microSD card from DJI’s recommended list and plan your backup workflow. 4K and slow-motion recording use H.265, so check that your computer or editing application handles those files smoothly.
Fly More Combo: RC-N3 or RC 2?
Both options on this page include the same Air 3S aircraft, three Intelligent Flight Batteries in total, a charging hub, ND8/32/128 filter set, shoulder bag, three spare propeller pairs, USB-C PD cable and gimbal protector. The choice changes how you view and control the aircraft, not the cameras or flight performance.
- Fly More Combo (RC-N3): uses your compatible phone as the display with DJI Fly. USB-C and Lightning controller cables are included. Choose it if you are comfortable mounting a phone and want to keep the package cost lower. Check your phone’s compatibility and connector before ordering.
- Fly More Combo (RC 2): includes DJI RC 2 with a built-in 5.5-inch 1080p display. It avoids using your phone as the flight screen and offers a more self-contained setup for repeated shoots.
The charging hub is included, but a mains power adapter is not in either factory bundle’s listed contents. Add a suitable USB-C PD charger. DJI lists approximately 60 minutes for one battery using its 100W adapter and hub, or about 80 minutes with its 65W charger under the stated test conditions. The hub charges the three batteries in sequence, not all at once.
Endurance and sensing: what the figures mean
DJI’s maximum 45-minute flight time is measured under controlled conditions until battery depletion. Real filming sessions need a return and landing reserve, and wind, manoeuvres, temperature and camera use affect endurance. The Fly More batteries make it easier to swap and continue; they do not provide one uninterrupted 135-minute flight.
Omnidirectional vision is supported by forward-facing LiDAR and a downward infrared sensor. These improve situational sensing and return functions, including suitable low-light scenes, but the system cannot guarantee detection of every wire, branch or surface. At 724g, Air 3S is a more substantial travel kit than a Mini drone. Its quoted radio range describes test communication conditions, not a safe round-trip distance.
Who should choose Air 3S?
Choose Air 3S if the 24mm and 70mm perspectives will both appear in your work and you want a capable travel camera without moving to the larger Mavic platform. If you need an adjustable main-camera aperture, a third longer tele camera or 6K recording, compare the DJI Mavic 4 Pro Drone. If pack size matters more than separate telephoto framing, consider a Mini instead.
See DJI’s official Air 3S specifications for recording combinations, recommended memory cards and test conditions. Select your controller package above, then budget for the charger and storage your shooting routine needs.

Pros
- Separate medium tele camera offers a tighter view without only cropping the wide image.
- Both cameras support RAW photos and 10-bit video workflows.
- Three-axis mechanical stabilisation helps keep aerial footage smooth.
- Both listed packages include three batteries and ND filters.
- RC 2 option keeps your phone free during flight.
- Vision plus forward LiDAR assists sensing in suitable low-light scenes.
Cons
- 724g aircraft and accessories take more room than a Mini setup.
- Vertical recording is cropped 2.7K, not full-sensor 4K portrait capture.
- A suitable mains charger is an additional purchase; the hub charges sequentially.
What changes between the RC-N3 and RC 2 Fly More Combos?
The aircraft, three batteries, hub, filters and bag are the same. RC-N3 uses your compatible phone with DJI Fly as the screen; RC 2 has a built-in 5.5-inch display. The controller choice does not upgrade the cameras.
Is the 3x camera an optical zoom lens?
It is a separate 70mm-equivalent medium tele camera alongside the 24mm-equivalent wide camera. It provides a native tighter viewpoint, but not a continuously variable optical zoom lens; further zoom is digital.
Can Air 3S record 4K vertical video?
No. Vertical capture reaches 2.7K/60fps using a crop. Landscape video supports 4K/60fps HDR and 4K/120fps slow motion on both cameras.
Does Air 3S need a memory card?
It has 42GB internal storage, so you can record without a card while space remains. A compatible microSD card is useful for longer shoots and removable media; it is not listed in the factory bundle contents.
Are a charger and ND filters included?
Both Fly More options include ND8/32/128 filters, a USB-C cable and a battery charging hub. A mains power adapter is not included in the factory contents. Use a suitable USB-C PD charger; the hub charges three batteries sequentially.
How long does the battery last during filming?
DJI quotes up to 45 minutes under controlled maximum-flight testing. Actual filming time is shorter and varies with conditions. Keep sufficient charge to return and land; three included batteries are for separate flights.
Can it follow a moving person or vehicle?
ActiveTrack 360° supports automatic subject-following functions in supported conditions. Plan a clear route and monitor the aircraft. Sensing and tracking do not guarantee avoidance of thin obstacles, wires or every surface.
Is Air 3S better than a Mini for every buyer?
No. Air 3S is particularly useful when you need a separate 70mm tele view and a one-inch wide camera. A Mini is easier to pack and carry. Choose around your framing needs and total kit weight rather than resolution alone.
