DJI Avata 360 Overview

The DJI Avata 360 price in Kenya is KShs 140,500. Choose it when the ability to decide your camera angle after flying matters as much as the flight itself. Its dual-camera 360° recording captures the surrounding scene for reframing, while single-lens mode provides conventional forward-facing video. For a more traditional aerial camera with a mechanically stabilised three-axis gimbal, compare the DJI Mini 5 Pro before choosing.

360° recording: choose the composition after the flight

Avata 360 uses two 1/1.1-inch square sensors and records up to 8K/60fps HDR in 360° mode. That 8K resolution covers the sphere: an exported flat view is a crop of the original recording, not an 8K conventional camera view. You can follow a subject, change the viewing direction and create different horizontal or vertical compositions from the same flight. This suits travel sequences, property surroundings and action footage where a fixed camera direction could miss part of the scene.

Allow time for reframing and export in compatible DJI software. Large 360° files also need suitable storage and editing hardware. D-Log M provides additional grading flexibility for an established editing workflow; Normal colour is simpler when a quick turnaround matters. The camera can capture 30MP or 120MP 360° photos, with JPEG and RAW options.

Single-lens mode and camera movement

Single-lens mode records up to 4K/60fps or 2.7K/120fps. It is a video mode, not a conventional still-photo mode. The aircraft combines mechanical tilt with virtual camera control in 360° recording; it should not be confused with a traditional three-axis mechanical camera gimbal. With DJI RC 2, single-lens recording uses a 16:9 view and RockSteady stabilisation. Supported goggles and motion/FPV controller combinations unlock additional operating options, including 4:3 single-lens recording.

Which DJI Avata 360 package should you choose?

  • Standard Kit RC 2: the aircraft, DJI RC 2 screen controller and one flight battery. Choose this for conventional stick control and shorter sessions, with a screen already built into the controller.
  • Fly More Combo RC 2: retains DJI RC 2 and increases the total to three batteries, with a charging hub and sling bag. This is the practical choice for multiple takes and travel days where you want spare batteries ready.
  • Motion Fly More Combo: includes DJI Goggles N3 and DJI RC Motion 3 instead of DJI RC 2, plus three batteries, the charging hub, sling bag and controller lanyard. Choose this for an immersive goggles-based experience; it is not simply the RC 2 kit with goggles added.

All three packages share the same aircraft. Standard-controller features such as ActiveTrack 360° and QuickShots differ from goggles-based features such as head tracking and motion-controlled acrobatics. Select the control experience you will actually use, not just the largest accessory count. For a lighter personal-following drone, also compare the DJI Neo 2.

Obstacle sensing changes with the recording mode

Omnidirectional vision sensing with forward LiDAR assists flight in 360° mode. In single-lens mode, obstacle sensing is forward only. This is an important difference when planning a route: do not assume the aircraft has the same protection in every direction in both modes. Sensing still depends on the environment and cannot guarantee avoidance of branches, wires, transparent surfaces or moving obstacles. Integrated propeller guards help separate the propellers from nearby objects, but do not make contact safe or protect the exposed lenses from every impact.

Battery life, charging and storage

DJI quotes up to 23 minutes of flight under controlled test conditions. Actual usable recording time is shorter once wind, manoeuvres and a safe return reserve are included. Avata 360 weighs approximately 455g, so it is not a sub-250g drone. Its 42GB internal storage is useful when a card is unavailable, while compatible microSD storage gives you more room for large video files.

The Fly More charging hub supports up to 100W input. DJI quotes approximately 47 minutes for one battery or 100 minutes for three with the appropriate charger under its test conditions. Direct aircraft charging supports up to 65W and takes approximately 73 minutes. Parallel hub charging requires a suitable power supply of at least 65W; lower-powered charging is sequential. A wall adapter and microSD card are not listed in these kits, so plan those separately rather than assuming the supplied USB-C cable is a complete charging solution.

Kit contents and everyday care

Each kit includes the aircraft, its selected control equipment, gimbal protector, two spare propeller pairs, screwdriver, foldable landing pad, lens cleaning cloth and USB-C to USB-C data cable. Battery count, hub, bag and goggles depend on the selected package above. Keep the lenses and any fitted protectors clean before take-off: scratches or trapped grit can affect footage across a wide area. A clear landing surface also helps keep the optics away from dust.

Choose Avata 360 for immersive capture and creative reframing. Choose a conventional camera drone when predictable straight-to-edit aerial framing, longer flight endurance or a dedicated photographic workflow matters more. Review DJI’s official Avata 360 specifications for recording-mode and controller compatibility details.

What is the DJI Avata 360 price in Kenya?

The current Kenya price is shown in the purchase section above. Select your package to see its exact price and included controller.

Is 8K 360° video the same as an 8K flat video?

No. The 8K recording covers the surrounding sphere. A conventional view exported from it uses a portion of that image, so its detail depends on framing and export settings.

How do the three packages differ?

Standard Kit RC 2 includes DJI RC 2 and one battery. Fly More Combo RC 2 adds three batteries total, a charging hub and sling bag. Motion Fly More Combo substitutes Goggles N3 and RC Motion 3 for RC 2 and includes three batteries, hub, bag and lanyard.

Does the Motion Fly More Combo also include DJI RC 2?

No. Its included controls are DJI Goggles N3 and DJI RC Motion 3. Choose one of the RC 2 packages for the screen controller.

Does obstacle avoidance work in every direction?

Omnidirectional sensing is available in 360° mode. Single-lens mode has forward obstacle sensing only. Environmental limitations still apply, and sensing cannot guarantee collision avoidance.

Can Avata 360 take normal single-lens photos?

Single-lens mode is for video. Photo capture is provided in 360° mode, with 30MP and 120MP options and JPEG/RAW support.

How long does a battery last?

DJI rates maximum flight time at 23 minutes under controlled conditions. Wind, flight style, recording and the return reserve reduce usable time. Fly More packages provide three batteries, not a single uninterrupted three-battery flight.

Do I need a memory card?

The aircraft has 42GB internal storage, so a card is not required for every recording. A compatible microSD card is useful for larger sessions and is purchased separately.

Is a mains charger included?

A wall adapter is not listed in these packages. The Fly More hub supports up to 100W charging; use an appropriate USB-C power supply and cable. The included USB-C data cable alone does not supply mains power.

Does it record vertical video?

360° footage can be reframed into a vertical composition during export. This differs from physically rotating a conventional camera into a portrait orientation.

Can I use ActiveTrack and head tracking with the same included controls?

Control features depend on the setup. ActiveTrack 360° and QuickShots use supported standard controllers, while head tracking and motion-control features require the supported goggles/controller setup. Select the package around your intended use.

Is DJI Avata 360 under 250g?

No. DJI specifies approximately 455g. It should not be treated as a sub-250g model.
