OLED contrast for films and mixed viewing

The C5 uses self-lit OLED pixels rather than a separate LED backlight. Each pixel can control its own light output, which is particularly useful for a small bright object against a dark background. This helps explain its appeal for evening films and games with dark environments. Room lighting still matters: position the screen so that windows and lamps do not dominate your view.

The α9 AI Processor 4K Gen8 handles image processing, with Dolby Vision, HDR10 and HLG support. Filmmaker Mode offers a useful starting point for films, including ambient-light compensation on supported content and modes. The C5 does not add HDR10+ support, so buyers with a particular HDR library should distinguish HDR10 from HDR10+ rather than treating the names as interchangeable.

55, 65, 77 or 83 inches?

The 55-inch C5 is the most compact option listed here. LG’s East Africa reference measures approximately 1,222mm wide and weighs 16kg with its stand. The 65-inch moves to about 1,441mm wide and 18.5kg with the stand. Both have a published stand footprint of 470 × 230mm, making furniture depth relatively manageable while the screen itself still needs adequate clear space.

The 77-inch gives films and sport more scale, with a cabinet approximately 1,711mm wide. Its stand footprint is 520 × 267mm and weight with the stand is 27.1kg. The 83-inch is the largest listed option: about 1,842mm wide, 33kg with the stand and a 460 × 297mm stand footprint. LG lists two stand-height positions for that size, which is useful to check if a soundbar will sit beneath the picture.

Mounting requirements change too. The East Africa references list 300 × 200mm VESA mounting for the 55-, 65- and 77-inch versions, and 400 × 400mm for the 83-inch. Confirm the exact supplied model and bracket load rating before installation. A larger diagonal alone does not tell you the stand footprint, mounting pattern or delivery access needed. webOS, the Magic Remote and sound

The C5 launched with webOS 25 and LG’s MR25 Magic Remote on the East Africa references. Pointer-style navigation and voice features can make finding content easier, while Google Cast and AirPlay support compatible devices. App availability, voice functions and AI services vary by country and language; check the services you actually use in Kenya. Internet access, accounts and subscriptions may be required. Do not assume every overseas cloud-gaming promotion is available locally.

The physical speaker system is 40W and 2.2-channel, with Dolby Atmos support. AI Sound Pro’s virtual 11.1.2 processing is not an eleven-speaker surround package. It can be useful for everyday TV sound, but a separate compatible audio system gives you more control over bass and speaker placement. WOW Orchestra and related LG features require a compatible soundbar, sold separately.
