A camera you can carry ready to film
DJI Osmo Pocket 3 combines its own camera, screen and motorised three-axis gimbal in a 179g body. You do not need to mount or balance a phone before every shot. The 20mm-equivalent lens gives a wide view for a person and their surroundings, while the rotating touchscreen makes changing between landscape and portrait framing straightforward. It suits a walking city tour, a small-business demonstration or a solo piece to camera where a full camera rig would get in the way.
Choose the recording mode for the final video
Normal landscape video reaches 4K/60fps. The separate slow-motion mode reaches 4K/120fps, while native upright recording tops out at 3K/60fps. Those are different modes, so the slow-motion headline should not be read as ordinary 4K/120fps recording with every feature active. The 1-inch sensor and fixed f/2 lens provide a useful starting point for indoor scenes; exposure, available light and subject movement still affect the result. The fixed lens is not an interchangeable-lens system.
Tracking helps a solo creator stay in frame
ActiveTrack 6.0 can follow a selected subject as the gimbal moves. Face detection and framing tools are useful when you are both presenter and camera operator. Mechanical stabilisation smooths camera rotation, but it does not remove all the vertical bounce of walking, nor does it turn the camera into a waterproof action camera. Move deliberately and keep the gimbal head free to rotate.
Plan audio and storage before a shoot
The three built-in microphones are convenient for ambient sound. A compatible DJI wireless transmitter can put speech capture closer to the speaker without a receiver mounted on the camera. The Creator Combo includes a Mic 2 transmitter; the two Mic Mini Vlog options differ in microphone colour, not camera colour. Pocket 3 has no built-in recording storage: bring a suitable microSD card, with capacities up to 1TB supported. A card is not included unless explicitly listed in your selected package.
Pick accessories for the work, not the largest box
Standard keeps the kit simple. Power Boost adds a battery handle and mini tripod. Creator adds wireless audio, a wide-angle attachment, battery handle, tripod and carrying bag. Travel Filter targets outdoor exposure control; Creator Filter adds ND and diffusion filters to Creator. The Mic 3 and Mic Mini Vlog packages focus on direct wireless audio. Filters and lens attachments must be Pocket 3 compatible; a similarly named Pocket 4 accessory is not automatically interchangeable.
Power, setup and care
DJI quotes up to 166 minutes under a 1080p/24fps laboratory test with Wi-Fi and the screen off at 25°C. Higher settings and active features can shorten that figure. Initial activation and firmware management use DJI Mimo; check phone compatibility before travelling. Keep the camera dry, use the protective cover for transport, and do not force the gimbal by hand. Compare the genuine packages
- Standard: Choose the camera’s basic protected carry kit if you already have compatible audio and support equipment. It does not add a wireless microphone, battery handle or memory card.
- Creator Combo: A broader talking-to-camera kit with a DJI Mic 2 transmitter, wide-angle lens, battery handle, mini tripod and carry bag. It is a single-transmitter package, not a full two-person receiver kit.
- Power Boost Combo: Adds the battery handle and mini tripod to the core camera kit. Useful when recording for longer sessions or leaving the camera in a fixed position; it does not add a wireless microphone.
- Creator Filter Combo: Adds the genuine magnetic ND filter set and Black Mist filter to the Creator equipment. ND filters help control exposure in bright conditions; diffusion changes the look of highlights. They are different tools.
- Travel Filter Combo: Pairs the core kit with the ND filter set and mini tripod for daylight location filming. It does not inherit the Creator package’s microphone or battery handle.
- Vlog Combo (DJI Mic 3 Transmitter): Adds a DJI Mic 3 transmitter for receiver-free compatible wireless dialogue recording. Check the contents rather than assuming Creator’s battery handle and wide-angle lens are included.
- Vlog Combo (DJI Mic Mini — Infinity Black): The Black camera is paired with an Infinity Black DJI Mic Mini transmitter. The microphone finish is part of the package identity; it is not another Pocket 3 camera colour.
- Vlog Combo (DJI Mic Mini — Arctic White): The camera remains Black; Arctic White describes the DJI Mic Mini transmitter. This option changes the microphone finish, not the camera hardware or sensor.
