Choose aperture and recording mode for the scene
The f/2.0–f/4.0 aperture offers an exposure control that fixed-aperture action cameras do not. Opening the aperture admits more light; stopping down can help manage a bright scene. It does not replace all the uses of an ND filter. Use the available 8K30 mode for detail or 4K120 for action you want to slow down, checking firmware and mode restrictions in DJI’s specifications.
Stabilisation is mode-dependent
RockSteady reduces visible shake, while HorizonBalancing and HorizonSteady help maintain a level view in supported combinations. Do not assume the same options remain available at every resolution and frame rate. A securely fitted mount and a brief test recording are worthwhile before riding or entering the water.
Internal storage is useful, not unlimited
The camera has 64GB nominal internal storage, with 50GB available for use, plus microSD expansion. That is helpful if you forget a card or fill one unexpectedly. For a longer outing, transfer clips and carry supported media rather than relying on an internal buffer alone. Battery runtime also depends on resolution, temperature, screens and wireless features.
Storage, water use and audio: check before you buy
- Storage: DJI specifies 64GB nominal built-in storage with 50GB available, expandable using a compatible microSD card. A card is not required for the first internal-memory recording, but is useful for longer sessions.
- Water use: The camera is rated to 20m without a case when correctly sealed. Follow DJI’s water-use instructions and use the appropriate housing for deeper dives.
- Audio: Check DJI’s current OsmoAudio and adapter compatibility guidance for your exact microphone. A microphone is not included in the Standard or Adventure Combo.
