DJI Inspire 3 Overview

The DJI Inspire 3 price in Kenya is KShs 1,990,000. This is an aerial cinema system for productions that need a full-frame camera, interchangeable supported lenses, repeatable camera movement and coordinated pilot/camera operation. It requires a different budget and workflow from a compact camera drone. For a smaller integrated filming setup, compare the DJI Mavic 4 Pro; choose Inspire 3 when the production specifically benefits from its camera and control system.

Zenmuse X9-8K Air and the recording workflow

The Zenmuse X9-8K Air uses a full-frame sensor with 44.7MP still-photo resolution, dual native ISO and DJI’s claimed 14+ stops of dynamic range. Supported recording reaches full-frame 8K/75fps Apple ProRes RAW or 8K/25fps CinemaDNG with the separately purchased RAW licence. Resolution and frame-rate options depend on the selected codec and sensor mode; do not assume every 8K mode offers the same frame rate. Supported 4K/120fps modes provide slow-motion options for an appropriate production workflow.

The camera uses supported DJI DL lenses rather than a built-in zoom. DJI’s current list includes 18mm, 24mm, 35mm, 50mm and 75mm lenses. A lens is not included in either package listed here. Select focal lengths, compatible filters, codec licences and recording media before a shoot, and confirm that your editing system can handle the chosen files. Cinema RAW creates very different storage and processing demands from a consumer H.264 clip.

Standard Kit versus Basic Package

  • Standard Kit: aircraft, X9-8K Air camera, RC Plus controller, six TB51 batteries, PROSSD 1TB and TB51 charging hub, plus propellers, cables, support accessories and cases. Six batteries provide three pairs: the aircraft uses two batteries together.
  • Basic Package: aircraft, X9-8K Air camera, four TB51 batteries, trolley case and camera case only. DJI positions it as a backup-aircraft option for an existing production system. It does not include RC Plus, PROSSD, charging hub or the Standard Kit accessory set.

The Basic Package is not a complete first-time purchase just because it includes the camera. Choose it when you already have the necessary compatible equipment, or deliberately budget for that equipment separately. Neither package lists a lens, RAW recording licence, second controller or RTK base station as included.

Camera movement and two-person operation

The transformable landing gear supports unobstructed 360° pan shooting with the gear raised. With the gear lowered, the supported Tilt Boost configuration enables an unobstructed upward-looking view up to 80° under DJI’s stated conditions. This allows camera movement that is difficult to reproduce with a fixed-body compact drone.

O3 Pro supports separate FPV and camera feeds and dual-control operation. With a second compatible controller, a pilot and camera operator can work from different positions. The Standard Kit supplies one RC Plus, not two. Its 7-inch high-brightness screen and DJI Pilot 2 cinema interface provide camera information and controls; Basic Package buyers must provide the controller separately.

Repeatable routes, RTK and Spotlight Pro

Waypoint Pro supports Repeatable Routes and 3D Dolly, helping a crew repeat a move or work along a planned virtual camera path. Spotlight Pro assists subject framing. These tools support the shot rather than replacing rehearsal, communication and a clear route. For RTK-assisted positioning, arrange a compatible correction source such as the supported D-RTK 2 station or an appropriate network RTK service. The base station and service are separate.

Omnidirectional sensing provides flight assistance in suitable conditions, but depends on light and visible surface detail. DJI states that obstacle sensing is disabled while the landing gear is being raised or lowered. That transition should be considered when planning a shot near structures, especially where the camera move is the reason for choosing this aircraft.

Battery pairs, endurance and charging

DJI rates maximum flight at approximately 28 minutes with landing gear lowered, or 26 minutes with it raised, under its specified recording and flight conditions to battery depletion. Actual shooting time must allow for manoeuvres, wind and a landing reserve. The approximately 3,995g operating weight includes the camera, lens, two batteries, PROSSD and propellers.

TB51 batteries operate in pairs and cannot be charged through the aircraft. The dedicated charging hub is included with Standard Kit and separate from Basic Package. DJI quotes about 35 minutes to 90% in fast mode, 55 minutes to 100% in standard mode and 80 minutes to 100% in silent mode under test conditions. The hub accommodates eight batteries, but the Standard Kit contains six. Keep battery pairs organised and plan enough charged pairs for the shooting schedule.

What else should the production budget include?

Allow for at least one compatible lens, any required RAW licence, additional media and a reliable offload/backup workflow. A second controller, monitoring equipment, correction source and extra battery pairs depend on the crew and shot requirements. Inspire 2 batteries, controllers, camera and recording media are not interchangeable with this system; Ronin 4D X9 cameras and TB50 batteries are not substitutes for X9-8K Air and TB51.

Choose Inspire 3 as a complete production system, not only by its 8K headline. Review DJI’s official Inspire 3 specifications and official package contents when matching the kit to your existing equipment.

What is the DJI Inspire 3 price in Kenya?

The current Kenya price is shown in the purchase section above. Select Standard Kit or Basic Package to see its exact price, then allow for a compatible lens and any required recording licence.

Does Basic Package include the X9-8K Air camera?

Yes. It includes the aircraft, X9-8K Air camera, four TB51 batteries, trolley case and camera case. It does not include RC Plus, PROSSD, the charging hub or the Standard Kit accessory set.

Is Basic Package ready for a first-time owner to fly and record?

Not by itself. It is intended as a backup-aircraft package for teams with compatible supporting equipment. You need the required controller, lens, recording media, charging equipment and any codec licence for your workflow.

What does Standard Kit add?

Standard Kit supplies RC Plus, six batteries total, PROSSD 1TB, TB51 charging hub, propellers, controller supports, data and AC cables, lens carrying box and small accessories. A lens and RAW licence are still separate.

Are six batteries six complete flight sets?

No. Inspire 3 uses two TB51 batteries together. Six batteries form three pairs; Basic Package provides four batteries, or two pairs. Actual session length depends on the flight and reserve.

Can I charge batteries through the aircraft?

No. TB51 aircraft charging is not supported. Use the dedicated compatible charging hub, included with Standard Kit and separate from Basic Package.

Does 8K/75fps work without buying a RAW licence?

The headline 8K/75fps Apple ProRes RAW and 8K/25fps CinemaDNG capabilities require the appropriate separately purchased licence. Available resolution and frame rate also depend on codec and sensor mode.

Which lenses can I use?

DJI currently lists supported DL 18mm, 24mm, 35mm, 50mm and 75mm lenses for X9-8K Air. Neither listed package includes a lens; confirm the exact lens and filter compatibility before purchase.

Is a second controller included for dual operation?

No. Standard Kit contains one RC Plus; Basic Package contains none. Add the appropriate second compatible controller for a pilot-and-camera-operator setup.

Does it use microSD cards for cinema recording?

The specified recording media is DJI PROSSD 1TB, included with Standard Kit and separate from Basic Package. Plan media capacity, file transfer and backups for the chosen recording format.

Can I reuse Inspire 2 or Ronin 4D parts?

Inspire 2 camera, controller, batteries and media are not interchangeable with Inspire 3. Ronin 4D X9 cameras and TB50 batteries are also not substitutes. DJI states that Ronin 4D PROSSD 1TB is interchangeable.

How long can it fly with the landing gear raised?

DJI quotes approximately 26 minutes with gear raised, compared with 28 minutes lowered, in its specified test to battery depletion. Actual safe shooting time is shorter once conditions and landing reserve are included.

Does obstacle sensing work during landing-gear movement?

DJI states that obstacle sensing is disabled while the landing gear is being raised or lowered. Plan sufficient clearance during the transition and do not rely on sensors to protect a close camera move.
