8K capture is a canvas for reframing
The camera spreads its 8K recording across the whole sphere. A normal widescreen or vertical export shows a portion of that image, so the final crop should not be described as an 8K close-up. Use 8K30 for detail, 5.7K60 for movement, or single-lens 4K60 when a conventional view is sufficient.
Plan the camera position before you press record
A compatible Invisible Selfie Stick can disappear from suitable stitched footage when positioned correctly. That effect does not make every mount invisible. Keep important subjects away from the joining area between the two lenses, clean both lenses and check a short test before the main activity.
Who should consider a newer X camera?
Insta360 X4 remains useful if you want daylight 360 footage and can work within its recording and lens-care requirements. Insta360 X5 adds a different low-light and replaceable-lens proposition. Do not buy solely on an 8K label: compare the actual modes, repair options and accessories you need.
Storage, water use and audio: check before you buy
- Storage: Insta360 X4 records to a compatible microSD card and has no built-in recording storage. Choose UHS-I V30 or faster media supported by Insta360; the card is sold separately.
- Water use: The camera is waterproof to 10m when correctly sealed. Standard Lens Guards are not intended for underwater use. Follow the official guard and dive-case instructions before filming in water.
- Audio: Compatible wireless audio includes Insta360 Mic Air. Confirm current Insta360 X4 compatibility and firmware requirements before purchasing audio accessories.
Is this the right camera for your setup?
See Insta360 X5 for PureVideo and replaceable lenses, or Insta360 X4 Air for a lighter 360 camera. Choose according to the features you will use and the complete kit price.
