Two cameras change more than the zoom number
DJI Osmo Pocket 4P combines a wide 1-inch camera with a separate 1/1.28-inch medium-telephoto camera. Their equivalent focal lengths are 20mm and 60mm: useful for moving from an environmental introduction to a tighter portrait without physically stepping into the scene. The 3x optical relationship comes from those two cameras. Up to 12x video zoom includes digital processing and should not be described as 12x optical zoom.
Know which lens and mode delivers the headline
Normal landscape recording reaches 4K/60fps. In slow motion, the wide camera reaches 4K/240fps and the medium-tele camera reaches 4K/200fps; native portrait video reaches 3K/60fps. The main camera’s 17-stop dynamic-range claim applies under DJI’s stated D-Log 2 test conditions at 1x. It is not a promise that both lenses deliver that range at every zoom and frame rate. Photos reach approximately 37MP, with JPEG and DNG workflows available.
Stabilisation and tracking for a smaller crew
The motorised three-axis gimbal works with ActiveTrack 8.0 to follow a chosen subject, including supported zoomed framing. A rotating 2-inch OLED display keeps the controls on the camera. When filming a person at 60mm, allow enough working distance and keep movement controlled; the tighter perspective also makes camera movement more noticeable. Firmware, mode and lighting conditions affect the tracking tools, so rehearse the shot before a one-time event.
Storage, sound and remote control
Pocket 4P includes 103GB of internal storage and accepts microSD cards up to 1TB. It does not share Pocket 4’s 107GB figure. Three built-in microphones cover convenient on-camera sound. The Vlog Combo adds a Mic Mini 2 transmitter and FrameTap remote-control equipment, making it a different working kit rather than a different camera. Match microphone and accessory compatibility to Pocket 4P; similarly shaped Pocket models should not be assumed to take the same fittings.
Choose Standard or Vlog in the right finish
Standard includes the camera, fill light, threaded handle, pouch, wrist strap and USB-C PD cable. Vlog adds the verified remote, wireless microphone equipment, mini tripod and carry bag. Classic Black and Pearl White are camera finishes; small included accessories can have their own colours. The selected option and its detailed box list identify what you receive. Prepare the camera for a real filming day
The 210-minute battery figure is measured at 1080p/24fps, 25°C, with Wi-Fi and the display off; demanding modes reduce practical runtime. DJI quotes 80% charging in 18 minutes using its separately sold 65W charger. Keep backups of important recordings and use the model’s DJI Mimo setup and support guidance. Protect the moving gimbal and camera from water and impacts, and confirm the exact local warranty and selected package before payment.
